Athlete Works survey highlights high injury rates among Japanese high school freshmen
A survey conducted by Athlete Works reveals that approximately 60% of parents are unaware that sports-related injuries and major accidents are heavily concentrated among high school freshmen in Japan.
Data from the Japan Sport Council indicates that about one in three high school student-athletes experiences injuries requiring medical attention or time away from sports. Notably, 41.8% of these incidents occur during the first year of high school, often due to sudden increases in training intensity and improper physical management during growth periods.
To address these issues, Athlete Works hosted an event featuring former MLB player Takashi Saito. Saito shared insights on longevity in professional sports, emphasizing the importance of conditioning, proper nutrition, and sleep management to overcome physical setbacks.
