Athletes Alonso and Cabanes target Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Athletes Liranyi Alonso and Laura Cabanes have both expressed their ambitions to compete in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games following strong recent performances.

Dominican sprinter Liranyi Alonso secured four medals at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. Alonso won gold in the 100 meters with a Games record of 11.10 seconds, gold in the 200 meters with a time of 23.07, and gold in both the women's 4x100m relay and the mixed 4x100m relay. Alonso credited her success to mental strength and training under coach Jose Ludwig Rubio.

Spanish swimmer Laura Cabanes is also targeting an Olympic final in 2028. After competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics, Cabanes has shown increased consistency in the 200m butterfly, recently recording times below 2:09. The swimmer noted that having previous Olympic experience has helped her mental preparation for future competitions.
