Athletes complete major long-distance running challenges in the Netherlands
Athletes in the Netherlands are completing significant long-distance running feats. In Eindhoven, participants from 120 countries gathered for the marathon. Among them was Dirk from Groningen, who transitioned from a lifestyle of smoking and drinking to competitive running, aiming for a time of 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Separately, Tieme Smit completed a 680-kilometer run from Groningen to the Eiffel Tower in Paris over twelve days, averaging more than 60 kilometers per day. The run, which was partly inspired by a TikTok challenge to run one kilometer for every new follower, also served as a promotional effort for his lifestyle brand, Shivalife.
