Athletes deliver strong performances at Zurich Diamond League
At the Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Switzerland, several top-tier athletes delivered standout performances. In the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, Kenya’s Faith Cherotich secured victory with a time of 8:55.82. She was followed by compatriot Doris Lemngole, who took second place with a personal best of 8:55.94. Ugandan Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai finished third, clocking 8:58.28 to earn the bronze medal.
In the men’s 800m, Kenyan Emmanuel Wanyonyi recorded a world-leading time of 1:41.76. Despite reporting physical discomfort prior to the race, the reigning Olympic champion expressed confidence in his form. Wanyonyi stated that his performance in Zurich has renewed his focus on upcoming competitions, including the Diamond League final in Brussels and the World Athletics Ultimate Championships.
