Athletes secure medals at Deaf Youth Pan American Games in Guayaquil

Athletes from Argentina and Cuba have secured multiple medals at the VI Deaf Youth Pan American Games held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Argentine swimmer Mia de la Iglesia, aged 11, earned a bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke and a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. She is scheduled to compete in the 200-meter freestyle.

Representing Cuba, Gustavo Martínez Hernández won a gold medal in shot put with a distance of 9.12 meters and a silver medal in javelin throw with a distance of 39.06 meters. Other Cuban successes include Ibelice Marrero, who secured a silver medal in the javelin throw with a mark of 15.69 meters, and Yon Jairon Rondón, who took bronze in the javelin.
