Athletes secure victories at Japan Intercollegiate Athletics Championships

At the 95th Japan Intercollegiate Athletics Championships held at Nissan Stadium, several athletes secured notable victories.

Tetsu Sasaki, a second-year student from Waseda University, won the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:44.46. Sasaki expressed his desire to support his fourth-year seniors during their final major competition and noted that the experience would help prepare him for the upcoming ekiden season.

In the men's 400m final, Toyo University junior Kei Hirakawa secured his first victory. Competing in heavy rain, Hirakawa set a new championship record with a time of 45.37 seconds, narrowly defeating Asian Games representative Shinga Hayashi from Tsukuba University.
