Athletes target records and podiums at Viña del Mar Half Marathon
Athletes are preparing for the Viña del Mar Half Marathon in Chile, with participants aiming for significant personal and competitive milestones.
José García Rozas, a municipal official from El Tabo and physical education teacher, intends to attempt the world record for the men's half marathon category for athletes with multiple sclerosis. Diagnosed in 2016, Rozas aims to surpass the current record of 1 hour, 30 minutes, and 46 seconds held by British runner Chris White.
Additionally, 70-year-old runner Jorge Estay will compete in the 70-plus age category. Estay aims to test his performance level and seeks to achieve a time of approximately 2 hours to secure a prominent position in his category, noting that a time of 1 hour and 55 minutes would likely place him among the top three.
