Athletes Warned About Overtraining Risks and the Importance of Quality Workout Gear
Research indicates that when training load exceeds an athlete’s capacity to recover, performance plateaus, motivation wanes, and sleep quality deteriorates. A 2024 meta‑analysis in PLOS ONE, led by Conor Murphy, found that endurance overloading reduced sleep efficiency by about two percentage points across studies involving cycling, rowing, triathlon, running and swimming.
Separately, experts advise that using durable, well‑designed equipment—such as adjustable dumbbells, pull‑up bars, parallettes, kettlebells and resistance rings—can enhance safety, target muscle groups effectively, and support consistent progress in home‑based strength training.
