Athletic Club establishes core squad under Edin Terzic

Athletic Club manager Edin Terzic has established a core group of players during the opening four matches of the 2026/27 LaLiga season. While eight players have featured in every matchday, Unai Simón is the only individual to have completed every full game.

Beñat Gerenabarrena has emerged as a vital component of the midfield. Despite a crowded field of six potential candidates for the defensive midfield roles, Gerenabarrena is the only midfielder to have played in all four opening rounds. His high work rate and ability to sustain pressure have made him a fixture in Terzic’s system.

Other consistent contributors include Oihan Sancet and Iñaki Williams, who have both been starters. Aymeric Laporte has also secured a regular spot in the starting lineup following his initial appearances from the bench. The team's tactical stability is largely attributed to the performances of these key players in the defensive and midfield lines.
