Athletic Club players protest internal issues via media boycott

Athletic Club players have addressed their decision to boycott media interviews following a match against Barcelona. Captain Iñaki Williams and goalkeeper Unai Simón explained that the silence was a deliberate tool to send a signal to the club's board of directors and president, Jon Uriarte, regarding unresolved internal issues.

Williams clarified that the protest was not a “childish tantrum” but a show of solidarity with other club employees and members of the women’s team. He noted that the players are seeking to resolve various conflicts that have accumulated over several seasons. While there has been speculation regarding ticket pricing, the players emphasized that the core issues are deeper and involve broader organizational concerns.

A meeting with the Board of Directors is expected to take place soon to address these matters and attempt to find a resolution.
