Athletic Club players see high valuations via MERC system

The FutbolFinanzas MERC valuation system has significantly increased the estimated market values for two Athletic Club players, Beñat Gerenabarrena and Johaneko Louis-Jean, compared to traditional Transfermarkt figures.

Beñat Gerenabarrena, a 23-year-old midfielder, is valued at €8.6 million by the MERC system. This figure is nearly ten times higher than his Transfermarkt valuation of approximately €887,900. His high valuation is driven by his physical capacity and youth coefficient, though it is tempered by a lower market value rating and a contract expiring in June 2027.

Johaneko Louis-Jean is valued at €7.6 million by the MERC system, a substantial increase from his Transfermarkt valuation of roughly €0.6 million. The discrepancy is attributed to his recent transition from the reserve team to a starter under coach Edin Terzić. His valuation benefits from high physical capacity and strong defensive performances, such as marking Lamine Yamal, despite a lack of goals or assists.
