Athletic Club plans San Mamés stadium expansion to increase capacity

Athletic Club is considering a stadium expansion project for San Mamés that could increase capacity by up to 2,440 seats, bringing the total to 56,008 spectators. The project, which involves a maximum investment of 5.2 million euros, was registered with the Bilbao City Council and includes redistributing various zones and renovating the third tier and press areas.

Club President Jon Uriarte recently addressed the press regarding the club's management and the decision to reduce certain invitation allocations to free up approximately 1,019 seats. This move aims to prioritize new club members and address a waiting list that exceeds 10,000 people. Uriarte noted that the club has already conducted tests to optimize seating, such as during recent Zetak concerts, to determine how to implement these changes gradually without requiring massive structural overhauls.
