Athletic memorial events held in Tursi and Acireale

Two separate athletic memorial events took place in Italy, focusing on sports promotion and honoring local figures.

In Tursi, the 19th edition of the ‘Corriconoi – Ricordando Vito’ promotional running race is scheduled for October 28, 2026, at the Mimmo Garofalo municipal stadium. Organized by ASD Atletica Amatori Tursi ‘Martire Salvatore’, the ‘V per Vito’ volunteer association, and the Valsinni-Tursi Comprehensive Institute, the non-profit event aims to promote sports culture among students aged 6 to 14. Participants will compete in various distances, with prizes including commemorative medals and books provided by Agenzia Editoriale Sinno.

In Acireale, the Memorial Nino Leotta was held at the Aci e Galatea stadium on October 24. The event honored the founder of ASD Atletica Virtus Acireale, featuring races ranging from 100 meters to 5,000 meters for both youth and competitive athletes. A significant moment included the presentation of a medal won by Giuseppe Pulvirenti to the Leotta family. The club is preparing for its next event, the Trofeo Santa Venera, on November 8.
