Athletics at Finland's Kalevan Games in Jyväskylä yield gold, silver and bronze medals
The 2026 Kalevan Games were staged at the renovated Harju Stadium in Jyväskylä, drawing athletes from the Kataja Yleisurheilu club. Mette Baas captured her seventh senior Finnish title and gold medal in the women's 400 m with a time of 52.39 seconds. Topias Mustonen secured his first senior medal, a silver in the men’s pole vault, setting a new regional record of 5.40 m. The club also earned two additional medals: Juho Suomi took bronze in the discus throw with a 56.04‑metre effort and finished fourth in the hammer throw. Across the competition Kataja athletes collected 13 points‑scoring places, helping them to finish among the top eight teams. The meet highlighted strong performances and a supportive atmosphere, with athletes looking ahead to upcoming national and international events.
