Brindisi reopens Lucio Montanile athletics track after four years

The Lucio Montanile school field in Brindisi has officially reopened following a major renovation project funded by the PNRR. The facility had been closed for nearly four years due to bureaucratic difficulties and required maintenance, forcing local athletic clubs to seek alternative training locations.

The reopening was marked by the provincial Esordienti club championship, part of the “Tutti in Pista 2026” circuit. The event included competitions for various categories, including Ragazzi, Cadetti, Absoluti, and Master, with approximately 289 athletes from 30 clubs participating.

In addition to the track reopening, several other athletic events are scheduled in the Puglia region, including the Egnazia Half Marathon in Savelletri di Fasano and the Corricastrignano road race in Castrignano de’ Greci.
