Athletics prospects Leo De Vries and Jamie Arnold sidelined by injuries
Two top prospects for the Oakland Athletics, infielder Leo De Vries and pitcher Jamie Arnold, are facing indefinite absences due to injuries.
Leo De Vries, ranked as one of the premier prospects in baseball, is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right shoulder in Arlington, Texas. The 19-year-old, who was acquired in a trade involving Mason Miller, has been sidelined since mid-August. The procedure is expected to require an eight-month recovery period.
Pitcher Jamie Arnold was injured after being struck in the face by a 107 mph line drive while pitching for Triple-A Las Vegas. Arnold sustained fractures to his intra-orbital and maxillary sinus, along with a corneal abrasion. His status remains indefinite following the incident.
