Athom's Homey Pro addresses smart home fragmentation

Smart home users face challenges with device interoperability and platform limitations. While Apple’s Home app offers a streamlined interface for basic tasks like controlling lights or temperature, it often lacks the advanced customization features found in manufacturer-specific apps. This frequently forces users to maintain multiple applications to manage settings, updates, or complex lighting scenes.

Additionally, Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem has traditionally offered narrower device support compared to competitors like Alexa or Google Home. To address these fragmentation issues, the Dutch company Athom offers the Homey Pro. This central hub is designed to connect a wide variety of smart devices across different protocols and frequencies, such as 433MHz, allowing them to work together within a single interface. Notably, Homey Pro can also bridge devices into the Apple Home app, expanding the range of compatible hardware available to iOS and macOS users.
