Atibaia and Sorocaba launch native tree‑planting drives
Municipal authorities in Atibaia, São Paulo state, organized a large‑scale planting of native Atlantic Forest trees taller than three metres at the city's forum, involving local students, officials and residents. The effort aims to improve urban green space, reduce heat islands and foster environmental awareness.
In Sorocaba, the city’s Environment Secretariat coordinated the planting of 1,000 native tree saplings in the Eden neighbourhood, with participation from scout groups, Rotary members, Toyota employees and neighborhood residents. The event, held on World Environment Day, is intended to expand urban canopy, improve air quality and engage the community in sustainable practices.
