Atibaia nears 100% LED public lighting coverage

Atibaia is nearing its goal of 100% LED public lighting, with the municipality currently reporting that 91.87% of its lighting infrastructure has been modernized. The transition from sodium vapor and metal halide lamps to LED technology has resulted in a 78% cost saving through the use of existing price registration agreements for materials and labor.

Between January and June, the city modernized 4,468 lighting points and added 417 new points. The administration noted that the LED transition provides energy savings, environmental benefits due to the absence of heavy metals, and increased public safety through improved visibility. The city is also exploring the possibility of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to continue these advancements.
