Atif Aslam discusses decade-long ban on Pakistani artists in India

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has addressed the decade-long ban on Pakistani artists working in India. In a recent interview, Aslam stated that he respects the Indian government's decision to ban artists from Pakistan, noting that reciprocal bans on Indian artists in Pakistan also exist.

Aslam expressed that while he misses his Indian fans, he does not miss working in the country. He observed that despite the restrictions, his music continues to reach Indian audiences through the use of VPNs and the physical distribution of CDs. He remarked that “music will reach wherever it has to reach.”

The singer added that the ban ultimately allowed him to explore his own musical identity, stating that without the restriction, he might not have transitioned from playback singing to creating his own music.
