Atiku Abubakar campaign pledges to scrap naira float policy
Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign, has outlined key policy positions and electoral projections for the 2027 Nigerian presidential election.
Okonkwo stated that if Atiku Abubakar is elected, his administration will scrap the current policy of allowing the naira to float freely against market forces. Criticizing the Bola Tinubu administration, Okonkwo argued that a government must defend its currency rather than leaving it to market volatility, which he claimed has made life unaffordable for citizens.
Regarding the upcoming election, Okonkwo predicted that Atiku, running under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), would secure all 19 northern states and three states in the Southwest, specifically naming Osun, Ondo, and Ogun. He attributed this projected support to public frustration with the rising cost of living, high petrol prices, and the current minimum wage.
