Atiku Abubakar accuses Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila of N400m bribe amid ADC election plot

Former Vice‑President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has warned that elements within the ruling All Progressives Congress are plotting to keep the ADC off the ballot for Nigeria’s 2027 general election. He urged Nigerians to reject any attempt to “cherry‑pick” opposition parties and called on the judiciary, INEC and civil society to safeguard the electoral process.

Atiku also demanded the immediate suspension of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations that the official was involved in a N400 million bribe linked to Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi’s self‑styled Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). He highlighted a controversial N27.4 billion allocation in the 2026 budget to an agency that, according to a government letter, does not exist, calling it a “national scandal” and urging an independent investigation.

The ADC confirmed that it has uploaded the names and particulars of Atiku and his running‑mate Rotimi Amaechi to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s nomination portal, fulfilling a statutory step toward the 2027 election. The PFIPC scandal, centered on claims that Gbajabiamila helped create or fund the phantom council, has been denied by the chief of staff, who says the council is not a recognised federal body.
