Atiku and Obi outline 2027 economic and electoral pledges

Leading 2027 presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have outlined key economic and electoral policies. Atiku Abubakar, representing the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called for an immediate increase in the national minimum wage, arguing that the current N70,000 rate has been eroded by the rising costs of fuel, food, and rent. He pledged to raise the wage floor from his first day in office and proposed a targeted production subsidy for domestically refined petroleum products.

Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, has pledged to restore the petroleum subsidy if elected, provided that systemic corruption is first eradicated. Obi also committed to prioritizing education and security, and promised to develop a railway network connecting all state capitals. Regarding the 2027 elections, Obi stated that his movement will not engage in vote-buying or provide financial inducements to party agents, emphasizing a commitment to protecting voters and ensuring the integrity of the ballot counting process.
