Atlanta and Miami Ready to Highlight Growth for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Atlanta will host eight matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including a semifinal, at the Mercedes‑Benz Stadium (renamed Atlanta Stadium for the tournament). City officials see the event as a chance to display recent infrastructure upgrades, cultural influence, and economic development while also addressing ongoing debates about housing, homelessness and equitable growth. The match schedule features Spain, Cape Verde, Czechia, Denmark, North Macedonia, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Haiti, Morocco, DR Congo, Jamaica, New Caledonia, Uzbekistan and other contenders between June 15 and July 15.

In the United States, Miami is also gearing up as a World Cup host city. The downtown Miami Worldcenter megaproject, a six‑billion‑dollar redevelopment of ten city blocks, links the Metrorail, Brightline and Metromover and offers new hotels, restaurants, pedestrian spaces and public art. Attractions such as the Freedom Tower, Miami Beach’s Art Deco district and Little Havana’s vibrant Cuban culture are being promoted to visitors. Both cities aim to use the tournament to showcase their modern urban amenities and to attract global tourists.
