Atlanta area sees two fatal shootings on Saturday

Two separate fatal shootings occurred in the Atlanta area on Saturday.

In Northeast Atlanta, a 42-year-old man was killed during a shooting at the Historic Old Fourth Ward Park. Atlanta police responded to reports of gunfire around 4:50 a.m. near Angier Avenue. Although medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have detained a man for questioning who was allegedly involved in the incident, noting that the two individuals did not know each other. Investigators are currently reviewing video footage to determine the motive.

In South Fulton, a man died following a shooting at the Camelot Condos on Old National Highway. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. South Fulton police reported that the victim died at the scene despite immediate life-saving efforts. The suspect fled the area and remains at large. The Camelot Condos complex has a documented history of violent crime and structural decay, and is currently undergoing a city-led demolition project to remove blighted buildings.
