Atlanta Braves pursue Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal in trade talks

The Atlanta Braves are identified as a potential "sleeper" in the trade market for Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal, a two‑time American League Cy Young Award winner. According to USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale, the Braves would need to part with two of their top‑10 prospects, including one ranked in the top 100 overall, to acquire Skubal.

Skubal, who recently returned from elbow surgery, delivered eight strikeouts in a recent start against the Chicago White Sox, helping Detroit to a win. The Tigers, currently 32‑44 on the season, have attracted interest from several clubs, including the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. The MLB trade deadline is August 3.

The Braves, leading the National League East with a 48‑27 record, are positioned as a serious contender for the pitcher, though the exact likelihood of a deal remains uncertain.
