Atlanta Braves send Bailey Falter to Triple-A Gwinnett

The Atlanta Braves have sent left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter outright to Triple-A Gwinnett. This move follows his designation for assignment on Monday. Because Falter has more than three years of service time, he has the option to elect free agency, though he is expected to accept the assignment to retain his remaining salary.

The Braves are currently managing their pitching rotation in preparation for the postseason, as they are projected to finish as the number three seed in the National League. The team has scheduled Chris Sale to make his final regular-season appearance next week to ensure he is rested for Game 1 of the Wild Card Series.

To preserve top arms for the playoffs, Atlanta may use depth pitchers, including Falter, in their final regular-season games against Miami. Falter, who was acquired from the Royals, has pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for Atlanta and 10 1/3 scoreless innings with Gwinnett.
