Atlanta City FC announced as NWSL expansion team for 2028

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has officially announced its 17th franchise, Atlanta City FC, which is set to begin play in 2028. The club will be owned by Arthur Blank and operated by AMB Sports and Entertainment, sharing Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and MLS’ Atlanta United.

Atlanta City FC’s visual identity features a red phoenix and a dogwood flower. The club’s color palette includes Atlanta Red, Georgia Peach, Black Char, Platinum Metallic, and Dogwood White, intended to represent the city's passion, hospitality, and innovation.

Mauricio Culebro, the new president of soccer for AMB Sports and Entertainment, stated the goal is to build a championship-caliber club that serves as a source of pride for the city. A public launch event is scheduled for October 4 in Atlanta, offering fans the first opportunity to purchase club merchandise.
