Atlanta Falcons extend defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. with $78M deal

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a four-year contract extension with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. The deal is valued at $78 million and includes $46.5 million in guarantees.

Dexter was acquired by the Falcons from the Chicago Bears in late August in a trade that sent cornerback Clark Phillips III and a 2027 fifth-round pick to Chicago. Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham described Dexter as a “young, ascending talent” whose impact on the defensive line is difficult to find.

Since joining Atlanta, Dexter has become a key component of a defensive unit that has ranked highly in run defense and quarterback pressure rates during the first three games of the season.
