Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers prepare for Week 8 divisional matchup

The Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to face each other this Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. The Falcons enter the contest with a 3-4 record following a recent victory over the San Francisco 49ers, led by quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who has recorded nine touchdown passes since taking over the starting role.

The Buccaneers, currently 2-5, are coming off a 43-13 win against the Carolina Panthers. Quarterback Baker Mayfield recently returned from a dislocated thumb injury and is expected to play. The matchup features a contrast in styles, with Tampa Bay ranking third in the league in rushing yards per game, while Atlanta maintains one of the league's most effective defenses against the run.

Injuries remain a factor for both teams. The Falcons reported several players on the injury report, including cornerback Billy Bowman Jr. and linebacker Divine Deablo, who did not practice. For the Buccaneers, running back Kenneth Gainwell is monitoring a hip injury. The game also carries personal significance for Mayfield, who has previously expressed public tension regarding his past relationship with Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski.
