Atlanta Falcons place cornerback A. J. Terrell on injured reserve

The Atlanta Falcons have placed star cornerback A. J. Terrell on injured reserve due to a groin injury. Terrell sustained the injury during the first quarter of a Week 2 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

By moving to injured reserve, Terrell is required to miss at least the next four games and will not be eligible to return until Week 7. While the team has not provided a specific timeline for his recovery, the move sidelines the 2021 second-team All-Pro ahead of the Falcons' upcoming matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

To address the vacancy in the secondary, the Falcons may rely on C. J. Henderson or potentially expand the role of Avieon Terrell, A. J. Terrell’s younger brother, who has been playing in the nickel position. In a corresponding roster move, the Falcons signed defensive lineman Zach Harrison to the active roster from the practice squad.
