Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets discuss Buddy Hield trade

The Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets are reportedly engaged in ongoing trade discussions involving Buddy Hield and Dorian Finney-Smith. According to league sources, the potential deal would see Hield, who has a $9.7 million salary this season, move to Charlotte, while Finney-Smith would head to Atlanta.

For the Hawks, acquiring Finney-Smith would provide defensive versatility and size on the wing, though his recent availability has been limited following ankle surgery. For the Hornets, Hield would offer additional perimeter shooting depth. Negotiations have occurred intermittently throughout the summer as both teams prepare for upcoming training camps.

Separately, analysts are looking toward the Hawks' roster depth and internal development for the upcoming season. Key players to watch include Luguentz Dort and Onyeka Okongwu, whose performances are viewed as critical to the team's ability to compete in a highly competitive Eastern Conference.
