Jonathan David Soto, 43, has been arrested in Jacksonville, Florida, following a multi-agency operation. Soto was a prominent figure on the Atlanta Police Department’s Top 10 Most Wanted list for his alleged role in the February 2023 fatal shooting of Michael Gidewon.

Gidewon was a co-owner of the Republic Lounge, a West Midtown nightclub in Atlanta. According to investigators, Soto was previously removed from the club due to intoxication before returning with a firearm and shooting Gidewon outside the venue. The shooting resulted in the permanent closure of the Republic Lounge.

The arrest was conducted by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Atlanta Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. After Soto reportedly refused to surrender at an apartment complex on Gate Parkway North, a SWAT team entered the unit and took him into custody without serious injury. Soto is currently being held in the Duval County Jail on a fugitive warrant pending extradition to Georgia.
