Atlanta rolls out cultural program and homeless housing initiative ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Atlanta Cultural Exchange opened on June 14 at the Center(CTR) Atlanta, turning its eighth floor into a hub of art, fashion, music and immersive experiences. More than 50 curators will transform venues across the city over the coming weeks, offering exhibitions, performances and conversations that celebrate Atlanta’s creative identity as the city welcomes the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

At the same time, the city is pursuing a new approach to homelessness ahead of the tournament. The "Downtown Rising" program, launched last summer, has already housed nearly 500 people and aims to provide homes for 3,900 residents citywide by next year. Funding of $185 million from state, city and corporate sources supports the goal, while officials emphasise moving people into shelter and services rather than arresting or removing them.
