Cruz Azul and Toluca draw 3-3 in dramatic Liga MX encounter

Cruz Azul and Toluca played to a dramatic 3-3 draw during Jornada 10 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament. Cruz Azul initially took a 2-0 lead in the first half through goals from Nicolás Ibáñez and Gabriel ‘Toro’ Fernández.

Toluca mounted a comeback in the second half, fueled by a penalty from Helinho and two goals from Alexis Vega, which briefly gave the visitors a 3-2 advantage. However, Gabriel Fernández secured a late equalizer for Cruz Azul with a goal in the 90+5 minute.

Following the match, Toluca remains at the top of the general classification with 20 points, while Cruz Azul sits in sixth place with 16 points. The match also drew criticism from Toluca coach Antonio Mohamed, who expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating of Katia Itzel García, stating that the team would have won with a ‘normal referee’.
