Atlantic International Film Festival announces 2026 program

The 46th Atlantic International Film Festival (AIFF) has announced its 2026 program, which will feature 113 feature and short films. The event is scheduled to take place at Halifax’s Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane from September 16 to September 23, 2026.

The lineup includes a variety of international and regional works, such as Seth Smith’s noir film ‘Permanent Damage’, the world premiere of ‘Smash & Grab: The Rebel Lens of Mike Jones’ directed by Justin Simms, and the Cannes Palme d’Or winner ‘Fjord’ by Cristian Mungiu.

Key gala presentations include the opening night gala, ‘111 Echoes From Halifax’, which explores the Swissair Flight 111 tragedy. The festival will conclude with the closing night gala, ‘Ha-chan, Shake Your Booty!’. Additionally, the Atlantic Gala will host the Canadian premiere of ‘The Snake’, a debut feature by Prince Edward Island director Jenna MacMillan, starring Susan Kent.
