Atlantic Islands National Park sees record summer tourism in Galicia

The Atlantic Islands National Park in Galicia recorded approximately 447,496 visitors during the summer season (May 15 to September 15), marking a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The Cíes Islands remained the primary attraction, hosting 290,876 visitors, which accounts for roughly 65% of the total. Ons Island followed with 134,373 visitors, while Sálvora and Cortegada saw 13,644 and 8,603 visitors, respectively.

Since January, the four archipelagos have accumulated 478,732 visits, nearly matching the total for the entire year of 2025. Officials noted a significant trend toward seasonal extension, highlighted by a nearly 40% increase in visitors during the first half of September compared to the previous year.

With the summer season concluded, the park has entered its low season. Access to Ons and Cíes is now regulated through direct management with shipping companies rather than the central reservation system, which closed on September 15. During the autumn and winter months, visits to the islands are conducted in groups with specialized guides.
