Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park reports multiple medical emergencies

The Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park experienced a surge in medical emergencies due to high temperatures and heavy visitor numbers. Within a thirty-minute window, five health emergencies were recorded across the Cíes and Ons islands.

In the Cíes islands, four individuals were treated simultaneously at the park's infirmary. Most presented symptoms of heatstroke, while a 67-year-old tourist from Murcia was evacuated by helicopter to the Hospital Álvaro Cunqueiro due to suspected cardiac issues. Additionally, a 70-year-old tourist from Madrid was evacuated by sea via the Salvamar Mirach after suffering a significant fall, resulting in a wrist injury and a possible knee fracture.

On Ons island, one person was treated at Melide beach for heatstroke symptoms. The response involved coordinated efforts between 061, 112, Salvamento Marítimo, and the National Park's medical and environmental staff.
