Atlas Arcade creates playable Street Fighter II experience on YouTube

A fan-made version of the classic fighting game Street Fighter II is now playable directly within a YouTube video. Created by Atlas Arcade, the interactive experience allows users to control Ryu in a battle against Ken on the iconic Battle Harbor stage.

The project utilizes YouTube’s existing playback commands to simulate gameplay. Desktop users can attack or dodge by pressing the “J” and “L” keys, which normally function to rewind or skip the video. Mobile users can participate via touch controls, though they must use a web browser rather than the standard YouTube app for the interactive features to function.

While the experience includes classic elements such as Ken’s theme music and Ryu’s signature Hadouken finisher, it is not a full game conversion. It features a limited roster and simplified timing-based mechanics rather than the franchise’s traditional complex combo system.
