Atlas Arteria flags potential French tax increases for 2027
Atlas Arteria has signaled that proposed changes to French taxation laws in the draft 2027 Budget Bill could impact its toll road operations. The French government intends to increase the rate of the Long-distance Transport Infrastructure Tax (TEILD) from 4.6% to a profitability-based rate capped at 12.2%. This change is projected to increase total sector-wide TEILD proceeds from approximately €600 million to €1.4 billion.
Additionally, the Temporary Supplemental Tax (TST), which applies to companies with revenues exceeding €1.5 billion, is expected to be extended beyond its original 2026 expiration date, though at a reduced rate. The government anticipates total TST proceeds will decrease from roughly €7.3 billion to €5 billion.
Atlas Arteria’s French concessionaire, APRR, is currently pursuing legal recourse regarding the TEILD, which cost the APRR Group €126.7 million in 2025. The company is monitoring the upcoming parliamentary debates regarding the Budget Bill to assess the final impact on its French, German, and United States assets.
