Atlas Atomics, a nuclear technology company operating largely in stealth mode, has reportedly raised approximately $400 million in a Series A financing round. The investment places the company at a valuation of roughly $1.9 billion, establishing it as a unicorn in the nuclear startup sector.
The funding round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz. While the company has not publicly detailed its specific technology, commercialization plans, or development timelines, the investment highlights growing interest in nuclear energy as a reliable power source to meet rising electricity demands.
The company is led by co-founder Kevin Gan, who has over 15 years of experience in energy sector investing, and nuclear lead Balendra Sutharshan, formerly of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Atlas Atomics was also co-founded and backed by Vivek Ramaswamy.
