Atlas FC celebrates 110 years with victory over Tigres

Atlas FC celebrated its 110th anniversary with a 2-1 victory over Tigres UANL at the Estadio Jalisco during the Apertura 2026 tournament. The match was marked by high tension, including objects being thrown at the Tigres team bus by local fans prior to kickoff.

Atlas secured the win despite playing with ten men for the final 20 minutes following the expulsion of José Sánchez Purata. Goalkeeper Camilo Vargas was instrumental in the victory, saving a penalty and making several crucial stops. The goals for Atlas were scored by Manuel Capasso and Luis Esteves, with the latter benefiting from a significant error by Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán. Juan Brunetta scored the lone goal for Tigres.

Off the pitch, Atlas is entering a new era under Grupo PRODI, which aims to strengthen the club's institutional and sporting structure. Meanwhile, Tigres is facing internal transitions, including the search for a new head coach to replace the interim management following recent struggles.
