Atlas secures loan of defender Juan José Sánchez Purata from Tigres

Club de Fútbol Atlas announced a one‑year loan deal for Mexican centre‑back Juan José Sánchez Purata, with an option to purchase the player for US$2 million. The 28‑year‑old joins the Rojinegro side from Tigres UANL after negotiations that also cover the full payment of his salary during the loan period.

Purata, a product of Tigres’ academy, previously spent a season on loan with Atlanta United in the United States. The move is part of Atlas’ broader squad overhaul following the club’s recent acquisition by Grupo Prodi, aimed at strengthening the defence ahead of the Apertura 2026 tournament in Liga MX.
