Atlassian to implement usage-based pricing for AI and automation

Atlassian is implementing an expanded usage-based pricing model that will supplement existing subscriptions. The new model introduces metering for specific capabilities, most notably AI features and automation, with usage-based billing for many meters expected to begin on December 3, 2026.

Under this system, plans will include an allowance of usage at no extra cost. Once an organization exceeds this allowance, extra usage will be billed based on actual consumption. For Jira automation, the metric is shifting from successful rule runs to a per-execution step count, which includes triggers, conditions, actions, and branches.

This shift follows previous price increases for Atlassian cloud subscriptions. In October 2025, list prices rose by 5% for Standard plans, 7.5% for Premium, and between 7.5% and 10% for Enterprise tiers, while Bitbucket Standard and Premium saw a flat 10% increase.
