Vijay Sethupathi confirms Maharaja sequel and discusses Hollywood remake

Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed that a sequel to his 2024 crime thriller, Maharaja, is currently in development. Speaking at the audio launch for his upcoming film Baththa, Sethupathi noted that director Nithilan Saminathan has already shared the story for Maharaja 2, which the actor found impressive.

Sethupathi also discussed a potential Hollywood remake of the original film. He mentioned that producer Sudhan Sundaram informed him that remake rights were sold to a Hollywood agency. The actor jokingly offered to appear in the American adaptation without a fee, noting his long-standing desire to work in Hollywood. Reports suggest Matthew McConaughey is being considered for a lead role in the remake.
