Atletico Madrid Legends Association launches support projects for retired players

The Association of Legends of Atletico Madrid, founded a decade ago, now gathers around 80 former players to assist retired rosters when the spotlight fades. It provides financial aid, a dedicated psychologist, and runs reminiscence workshops where veterans visit senior centres and patients with cognitive decline to stimulate memory through football.

The group also organises friendly matches, such as a recent game against Real Sociedad played a week before the Copa del Rey 2026 final. Looking ahead, it plans new initiatives including Nostalgia Atlética sessions, anti‑gambling and social‑media risk workshops, communication courses, and formal recognitions for historic players.
