Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone discusses victory and future

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone addressed the media following a 2-0 Champions League victory over Manchester United. Simeone dedicated the win to team captain Koke, who is currently navigating a difficult period following a loss in his family. The squad honored Koke by raising his shirt during the match.

Simeone also commented on the team's offensive depth, praising Julian Alvarez for his work rate and integration into the squad. He noted that the competition between Alvarez and Jonathan David is a positive factor for the club. Additionally, the manager highlighted the development of players like Barrios and Cardozo as key components of the team's current form.

Amidst these competitive successes, questions remain regarding Simeone's future at the club. His contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and no formal discussions regarding an extension have yet begun. Having led Atletico to eight trophies since 2011, Simeone remains the most successful coach in the club's history, though a Champions League title remains elusive.
