Atlimarjom suspends recycling collection in João Monlevade

The Association of Cleaning and Recyclable Materials Workers of João Monlevade (Atlimarjom) has announced a temporary suspension of recyclable material collection in the municipality starting September 1. The pause is expected to last four months to allow for organizational restructuring and the processing of a large backlog of accumulated materials.

According to Atlimarjom treasurer Valdete Roza, the association's warehouse is at capacity due to a high volume of materials collected since January. The current workforce of 25 people is insufficient to handle the sorting, pressing, and preparation required for commercialization. The association aims to resume collection services in January 2027 after clearing the current stock and reorganizing operations.
