Atlixcayotontli festival to feature 700 dancers in Puebla

The 22nd edition of the Atlixcayotontli festival will feature more than 700 dancers representing four ethnographic regions: Los Volcanes, Los Valles Centrales, La Tierra Caliente, and El Tenzo. The event aims to preserve the ancestral knowledge, music, dance, and clothing of the people of Puebla.

The festivities include a Convite on Sunday, August 30, starting at 10:00 AM from El Ahuehuete and traveling through the neighborhoods of Atlixco. The main festival is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, at the San Miguel hill, offering free access to the public.

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier stated that the celebration is essential for maintaining social cohesion and passing cultural expressions to future generations. The initiative aligns with the state's cultural rescue policies to strengthen community identity and belonging.
