Atlixco receives Diamond Distinction for tourism quality

Atlixco has become the first municipality in the state of Puebla to receive the ‘Distintivo Diamante’ (Diamond Distinction) for tourism quality, awarded by the Mexican Secretariat of Tourism. It is only the second municipality in Mexico to achieve this high-level recognition.

Mayor Ariadna Ayala attributed the award to the professionalization of the tourism industry and collaborative efforts between service providers, entrepreneurs, artisans, and traditional cooks. Key factors contributing to the distinction include the development of attractions such as the Mirador de Cristal and Valle de Catrinas, the preservation of indigenous identity, and the promotion of local gastronomy and traditions.

Additional efforts cited include infrastructure improvements to roads and continuous training for local businesses to ensure high service standards based on the region's history and cultural identity.
